Cougs topple UNLV
Jim Murphy collected four hits – two doubles and two triples – and Washington State came back from an eight-run deficit Tuesday to claim a 12-8 victory over UNLV in non-conference baseball at Las Vegas.
Murphy tied the school record with his two triples.
The eight runs was the largest deficit overcome by a Washington State team since beating UCLA in Pullman on March 30, 2001, after trailing 10-0.
Michael Ratigan (2-0) earned the win in relief of starter Connor Lambert, who recorded one out before leaving the game.
Washington State is 3-1. UNLV falls to 2-2.
