Shadle wants to play Ferris again

The Spokesman-Review

Shadle Park coach Tim Gaebe calls Ferris the best basketball team he’s seen in the Greater Spokane League.

“You have to be doggone perfect to beat them,” he said. “It’s amazing what they’ve accomplished.”

That said, Gaebe wouldn’t mind playing Ferris one more time.

“I don’t want to sound cocky, but hopefully we can meet again,” he said. “I know our kids would like that.”

Shadle has gone 21-4 this year and every loss has been to the Saxons.

The Highlanders open the State 4A tournament at 10:30 this morning against Mountain View of Vancouver and the third Raivio brother, Matt.

The Highlanders bring a varied attack to their first state trip in six years. Four players average in double figures: senior Zack Humphrey (15.5 ppg), junior Anthony Brown (13.4), and sophomores Aaron Dunn (12.4) and Robby Douglas (10.3).

“We’ll throw it up and see what happens,” Gaebe said.
