Reinprecht, Doan spark Coyotes

Steven Reinprecht scored three goals and Shane Doan had the winning goal with 3 minutes, 11 seconds remaining, lifting the Phoenix Coyotes to a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday in Denver.

It was the Coyotes’ second win over Colorado in three days. The Avalanche have dropped four straight, including three at home.

Marek Svatos, who scored both of Colorado’s goals, was called for tripping late in the third period, setting up Doan’s winner on an assist from Reinprecht.

Flames 4, Rangers 3: Jarome Iginla scored two goals to lead Calgary to a victory over New York in Calgary, Alberta.

Ducks 2, Blue Jackets 1: Chris Pronger and Ryan Getzlaf each had a goal and an assist and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 26 saves, leading the Ducks over Columbus in Anaheim, Calif.

Oilers 3, Blues 2 (OT): Dustin Penner scored his second goal of the game with 17.8 seconds to play in overtime and Edmonton beat the Blues in St. Louis.

Thrashers 5, Hurricanes 4 (OT): Marian Hossa scored a power-play goal off a feed from Ilya Kovalchuk with 31.5 seconds left in overtime to help Atlanta beat Carolina in Raleigh, N.C.

Red Wings 4, Stars 1: Dan Cleary had a goal and an assist to lift Detroit over visiting Dallas in a matchup of the top two teams in the Western Conference.

Devils 3, Panthers 2: Jamie Langenbrunner and Noah Clarke scored first-period goals to spark New Jersey to a win over Florida in Newark, N.J.

Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings and John Paddock of the Ottawa Senators were selected to coach the NHL All-Star Game in Atlanta on Jan. 27. … The Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Shane Hnidy and a sixth-round draft pick from the Anaheim Ducks for forward Brandon Bochenski.
