Rogers’ new addition opens

Students at Rogers High School returned to a brand-new, 186,000 square foot addition to their school on Wednesday.

The $65 million addition includes new classrooms, a common room, gymnasium, library and more than 600 computers. It is the first phase of construction approved by voters in the 2003 school bond.

Phase two will include restoring the school’s original building, built in 1932, building a clock tower in front of the school’s new entrance on Pittsburg Street, making parking lots along the east side of the building and putting tennis courts in where the parking lot is today.

Students hold three-school dance for Toys for Tots

Alix Silha of Lewis and Clark High School, Katie Griffiths of Ferris High School and Michaela Peterson of Gonzaga Prep organized a three-school dance at the South Hill Grange on Dec. 20 to raise funds for Toys for Tots.

The three raised $1,347 for the charity.

The students also arranged for Brandon Schreiner of Moonbeam Music to waive the DJ fee to play music for the dance.
