Bobcats top Celtics

» Jason Richardson scored 34 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Gerald Wallace had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and the Charlotte Bobcats stunned the Boston Celtics 95-83 in Boston for just the fourth loss of the season for the Celtics.

» The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for Boston (29-4) and spoiled its bid for the fastest start in team history to 30 wins. The 1959-60 Celtics started 30-4 before going on to win the NBA title.

Richard Jefferson scored 28 points and the New Jersey Nets cruised to a 99-88 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday in East Rutherford, N.J., in a blowout that probably prevented Jason Kidd from recording a fourth straight triple-double.

Kidd finished with 16 points, 11 assists and five rebounds in a game in which he sat on the bench for the final 12 1/2 minutes.

Michael Jordan was the last player to have four straight triple-doubles, doing it during a streak of seven in 1989. The NBA record is nine in a row by Wilt Chamberlain in the 1967-68 season.

Johan Petro came off the bench and tied his career high with 22 points for Seattle, which lost its fifth in a row and seventh in eight games. Nick Collison tied his season high with 18 points, while rookie Kevin Durant added 15.

Rockets 101, Knicks 92: At New York, Yao Ming scored 36 points, and Houston got big final quarters from Rafer Alston and Luis Scola to beat the Knicks for their fourth straight victory.

Hawks 90, Cavaliers 81: At Atlanta, Joe Johnson scored 27 points to lead five Atlanta scorers in double figures and the Hawks held off a late comeback to beat Cleveland for their first home win over the Cavs since 2003.

Raptors 109, 76ers 96: At Toronto, Anthony Parker matched his season high with 22 points, Chris Bosh had 21 and the Raptors beat Philadelphia.

Lakers 109, Hornets 80: At New Orleans, Kobe Bryant scored 19 points, Andrew Bynum added 17 and Los Angeles beat the Hornets for its fifth straight win.

Bucks 98, Heat 92: At Milwaukee, Mo Williams scored a season-high 35 points and the Bucks handed Miami its ninth straight loss.

Suns 129, Pacers 122 (OT): At Phoenix, Raja Bell sank two 3-pointers in the final 2 1/2 minutes of overtime and the Suns rallied from 16 points down without Steve Nash (stomach flu) to beat Indiana.

Mavericks 102, Pistons 86: At Dallas, Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and the Mavericks handed Detroit its second straight loss after an 11-game winning streak.

Trail Blazers 109, Warriors 91: At Portland, Steve Blake had a season-high 24 points before leaving the game with a left calf injury and the Trail Blazers beat Golden State. Portland’s Brandon Roy left the game with a right knee injury. The extent of the injuries wasn’t known.

Magic 113, Clippers 106: At Los Angeles, Dwight Howard notched a double-double (17 points, 17 rebounds) and Hedo Turkoglu added 28 points to lead Orlando over the Clippers.

Around the league

Phoenix Suns forward Grant Hill underwent an appendectomy and is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. … The Hornets and the state of Louisiana agreed to changes in the team’s arena lease that could allow the NBA team to leave New Orleans early, but also would keep the team in the city longer if fan support improves. The new lease runs through 2014, an extension of two seasons.
