PF council approves board, commission members

POST FALLS – The Post Falls City Council unanimously approved the appointments of 13 new and returning board and commission members Monday in a special meeting.

Most were appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Parks and Recreation Commission, with others being selected for the Library Board, Urban Renewal Agency and Urban Forestry Commission.

Without the new appointments, the Planning Commission would not have had a quorum for its first meeting of the year, held Tuesday.

Mark Latham and Stephanie Davenport were appointed to complete two unfinished terms on the Planning and Zoning Commission that end this year.

Davenport works for Pioneer Title Co., is a Post Falls Chamber of Commerce member and served on the Parks and Recreation Commission for three years. She has lived in Post Falls for 51 years.

Lynn Borders was also appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission, to a term expiring in 2011.

Borders is the chief officer at Kootenai County Emergency Medical Services System and has lived in Post Falls for 26 years. She is also a former firefighter and has been on the boards of the Post Falls Food Bank and the Calvary Lutheran Church.

Planning and Zoning Commissioner Larry Gilman was reappointed to a term expiring in 2011.

New Library Board appointee John Richter is a retired, 14-year resident of Post Falls. Richter is a former Urban Renewal Agency member and is a member of the Post Falls Chamber and Kiwanis. His term expires in 2012.

James A. Hail III, a customer relations manager for Hagadone Directories, was appointed to complete a Parks and Recreation Committee term expiring at the end of this year. He has lived in Post Falls for one year and in Kootenai County for 26. Hail previously served on the city of Coeur d’Alene’s Civil Service Commission.

Also appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission was former Dalton Gardens City Council Member Dora D. Griffith, a nurse at Kootenai Medical Center. She has lived in Post Falls for seven years. Her term expires in 2009.

Parks and Recreation Commissioners Tami Martinez and Randy Nilsson were reappointed to terms expiring in 2010.

Also reappointed were Urban Forestry Commissioners Bill Cook and Jackie McAvoy, with terms ending in 2010, and Urban Renewal Agency members Layton Rosencrance and Bobbi Rollins, both with terms expiring in 2012.

Eleven applicants were not awarded with positions, said Post Falls Mayor Clay Larkin.
