NIC opens league play

The North Idaho College men and women open Scenic West Athletic Conference play tonight.

The Cardinals take on College of Eastern Utah at Rolly Williams Court. The women’s game is at 5:30 with the men following at 7:30.

Colorado Northwestern visits on Saturday. The women tip off at 1 p.m. and the men follow at 3.

Both the NIC men (14-1), who are ranked 19th in the latest NJCAA poll, and women (11-3) are coming off strong non-conference stretches.

Only two SWAC men’s teams have better records – second-ranked College of Southern Idaho (15-0) and No. 5 Salt Lake Community College (15-0). Just CSI’s women (14-1), who are ranked sixth, have a better record than NIC.

The NIC men’s lone loss was to Community Colleges of Spokane, 80-66 on Dec. 11 at Gonzaga.
