Fire District 8 – Commissioners discussed procedures for adding items to the agenda. They also discussed attending some upcoming seminars and a special meeting to discuss updating the district’s strategic plan. A short executive session was held to discuss personnel matters. Valley Fire – Commissioners received architectural drawings for the new Station 9 planned for 32nd Avenue and Whipple and the design was discussed. A privacy fence is planned between the new station and the neighboring houses. There were 10,542 calls for service in 2007, up 8.7 percent over 2006. The new fire chief recruitment and selection policy was approved. The next meeting will be on Jan. 22 because of the Martin Luther King Day holiday. Beginning in February, the commissioners will meet at Station 8 at 2110 N. Wilbur Road while the conference room in Station 1 is remodeled. (Source: Administrative director Debbie Cox)
