People: A fertile period for Hollywood
Giving birth appears to be the popular pastime among entertainers these days.
Among the arrivals over the weekend:
“Singer Christina Aguilera and her husband, music executive Jordan Bratman, welcomed a 6-pound, 2-ounce boy named Max Liron Bratman. Liron, according to baby-naming Web sites, is a Hebrew name meaning “my song.”
“Reality TV star Nicole Richie (“The Simple Life”) also delivered her first child, a daughter named Harlow Winter Kate Madden. The father is Richie’s boyfriend, Good Charlotte rock singer Joel Madden.
“Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith (“Melrose Place,” “According to Jim”) joined the first-time mom’s club at age 40 with a son, Jacob Emerson Fishman. Thorne-Smith’s husband, Roger Fishman, is a media consultant.
“Actor/comedian David Alan Grier (“In Living Color”) and wife Christine Y. Kim are the proud parents of a girl, Luisa Danbi Grier-Kim. Danbi means “sweet rain” in Korean.
Among the big names still on the nest: Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett.
Anatomy lesson
Katherine Heigl (“Grey’s Anatomy) and her new husband, Josh Kelley, are preparing to adopt their first child, an anonymous insider tells Us Weekly.
Heigl has confessed to getting grossed out when she witnessed her sister giving birth.
“I’m done with the whole idea of having my own children,” she told USA Today in May. “(It) doesn’t seem like any fun.”
When the B stings
Singer Bjork allegedly attacked a newspaper photographer at New Zealand’s Auckland International Airport on Sunday.
New Zealand Herald photojournalist Glenn Jeffrey said he had taken a couple of pictures of Bjork arriving at the airport and was walking away when she came up behind him and grabbed his T-shirt, tearing it.
He said Bjork said nothing throughout the incident but a male companion kept urging her, “B, don’t do this, B, don’t do this.”
Won’t fade away?
Buddy Holly‘s widow is trying to keep the “Peggy Sue” from his hit 1950s song from selling a book about their relationship.
Peggy Sue Gerron says Holly was “one of the best friends I ever had.” But Maria Elena Holly scoffs: “It’s very interesting that this woman makes up all these stories. He never, never considered Peggy Sue a friend.”
Holly’s brother said the singer originally intended to use the name of his niece, Cindy Lou, in the song, but changed the name at the request of Crickets drummer Jerry Allison, who had a crush on Gerron. They later married.
