Spokane bound?

The Spokesman-Review

It seems unlikely that No. 1 Connecticut would be sent out west. Of all the potential top teams, the Huskies (16-0) would seem to have the easiest road to the overall top seed.

Although the Big East is no cakewalk, UConn has been burying opponents, winning by an average margin of 41.1 with a strong schedule. The closest game was Tuesday’s 65-59 win over Syracuse.

Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma, 637-120 in his 23rd year, will be headed to his 15th straight NCAA tournament. A 13th 30-win season is likely and a sixth championship is a real possibility.

Freshman sensation Maya Moore, a 6-foot forward, leads the Huskies in scoring at 15.4 points, and 6-4 sophomore center Tina Charles averages 14.6 points and 10.2 rebounds. Moore, four-time Freshman of the Week, has scored in double figures in every game.

Dave Trimmer’s projected top seeds: UConn, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland.
