IN Community Foundation names area scholarship recipients

The Inland Northwest Community Foundation recently announced the recipients of area high school students and teachers awarded scholarships totaling more than $145,000 for the 2007-08 academic year. Students and teachers are listed by their schools.

Eastern Washington

HOME SCHOOL

Shannon Carlon was awarded the Lucille I. Hudon Scholarship for $500.

CENTRAL VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

Kimberly Gering, awarded the David L. and Frances G. Ray Scholarship for $750; Aimee Goold, East Spokane Kiwanis Scholarship for $1,288.

COLFAX HIGH SCHOOL

Stephanie Lewis, Janet Solbrack, Nathan Johnson and Shana Largent, awarded the Clarence Hines Scholarship for $1,000.

Brittany Phelps and Christy Brooks, awarded the Francis and Sabina Schreiber Scholarship for $1,000.

Area residents complete basic military training

Five area residents graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Eric Baird is the son of Joseph Baird of Spokane and graduated from North Central High School in 2001.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Ashley Barker is a 2007 graduate of University High School and is the daughter of Corey and Brook Barker of Spokane Valley.

Air Force Airman Ryan Rogers graduated from Riverside High School in 2007 is the son of Greg Rogers of Chattaroy and Shannon Salyer of Spokane.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Quinn Lowry-Schiller is a 2007 graduate of East Valley High School and is the son of Deanna Berezay of Newman Lake, and Dell Lowry-Schiller of Spokane.

Air Force Airman Sarah Mattausch is the daughter of Richard and Chandra Mattausch of Valleyford and graduated from Freeman High School in 2007.
