Devils’ five power-play goals top Flyers

Low-scoring defenseman Johnny Oduya had a goal and three assists and the New Jersey Devils scored five times on the power play in a 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

The Devils equaled the team record for power-play goals and fell one short of the franchise mark.

Rangers 4, Thrashers 0: At New York, Jaromir Jagr scored and had two assists on a newly created line, and defenseman Fedor Tyutin helped set up three goals for the Rangers, who beat Atlanta.

Islanders 6, Hurricanes 3: At Raleigh, N.C., Mike Sillinger scored two of New York’s three short-handed goals to lead the Islanders past Carolina.

Lightning 4, Oilers 3: At Tampa, Fla., Martin St. Louis had a goal and two assists to help Tampa Bay snap a five-game home losing streak with a victory against Edmonton.

Panthers 5, Senators 3: At Sunrise, Fla., All-Star Tomas Vokoun stopped 43 shots, Tanner Glass scored his first NHL goal and Nathan Horton had four assists as Florida beat Ottawa.

Canadiens 8, Bruins 2: At Montreal, Tom Kostopoulos scored 14 seconds into the game and the Canadiens scored four times in the first period in a victory over Boston.

Blue Jackets 4, Stars 2: At Dallas, rookie defenseman Kris Russell scored his first two NHL goals, including the tiebreaker on a power play with 6:15 left, and Columbus rallied to beat the Stars.

Flames 2, Wild 1: At Calgary, Alberta, Craig Conroy scored the go-ahead goal at 8:36 of the third period as the Flames topped Minnesota.

Predators 4, Avalanche 0: At Denver, Dan Ellis stopped 39 shots and Martin Erat scored two goals to lead Nashville over Colorado.

Red Wings 3, Kings 0: At Los Angeles, Chris Osgood made 27 saves in his third shutout of the season, and Detroit got goals from Tomas Holmstrom, Mikael Samuelsson and Johan Franzen to beat the Kings.

Sharks 3, Blackhawks 2: At San Jose, Calif., Joe Pavelski scored a shorthanded goal, Christian Ehrhoff got his first goal of the season and the Sharks earned a victory over Chicago.

Evgeni Nabokov made 28 saves for the Sharks.

Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin will replace teammate Sidney Crosby at this weekend’s All-Star game. … Sergei Fedorov was placed on the injured list by Columbus, who activated center Andrew Murray. … Chris Campoli of the Islanders will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery this week. …Goalie Ilya Bryzgalov has signed a three-year $12.75 million contract extension with Phoenix. The Maple Leafs fired general manager John Ferguson, replacing him with former GM Cliff Fletcher on an interim basis. … Versus has picked up an option to televise NHL games for three years.
