At least that’s what Idaho coach George Pfeifer probably thought when he watched Utah State senior guard Jaycee Carroll break the school career scoring record last Saturday. “I’m sure people as far north as Moscow heard when Jaycee Carroll hit that shot to break the school record,” Pfeifer said, referring to USU’s vocal crowd of 10,270. … The top game of the week pits WAC-leading USU at New Mexico State on Saturday. USU topped visiting NMSU 74-62 on Jan. 12. … According to a list compiled by Robert Hester of the Horizon League, Idaho junior point guard Jordan Brooks is one of seven players in the NCAA leading his team in points (12.5), rebounds (5.5) and assists (4.0). … USU coach Stew Morrill became the school’s all-time winningest coach last week, passing E. Lowell Romney (1920-41), who had 225 wins.
