The actions of fans at Arizona State, where bottles were thrown on the floor after WSU’s one-point win Saturday, and Oregon, where students held up obscene signs and screamed homophobic chants about UCLA freshman Kevin Love, earned headlines up and down the coast. Oregon athletic director Pat Kilkenny made apologetic phone calls to Love and others at UCLA. … Love wasn’t the only freshman shining last weekend. Arizona’s Jerryd Bayless averaged 24.5 points and six assists in two wins, while ASU’s James Harden averaged 21 points and 5.5 rebounds last weekend. Lathan Wallace, who came into the weekend with 46 points on the season, led Oregon State in scoring in both games, totaling 29 points. … USC’s Taj Gibson has been on fire, hitting 44 of his last 61 shots (72.1 percent). … Stanford’s Brook Lopez went scoreless in the first half against Cal. He made up for it by scoring 23 points in the second half.
