Fire District 8 – Commissioners voted to increase the points paid to volunteer members by 17 percent. Bids were opened for monitor nozzles. Prep work has begun on the Station 82 roof rebuild. Staff members are researching smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles for staff vehicles. The district will also advertise for bids on a new rescue/pumper truck soon. Fire District 2 – Commissioners approved the purchase of gravel for the driveway at Station 21. A deadline of Oct. 1 was set for applications for fire chief. Current EMS trainer Jason Laulainen has been appointed interim chief after current chief Adam Branon retires on Aug. 31. Commissioners also approved an EMS levy for the November ballot. Volunteer firefighters assisted with the Valley View fire, while also dealing with a barn fire and a brush fire in the district. (Source: Chief Adam Branon)

Rockford City Council – Council members passed a resolution approving a six-year transportation plan. A public hearing will be held during the Aug. 6 meeting on future water rates. The town chose Jon Seehorn as the winner of its logo contest, who will receive cash and prizes. (Source: Town clerk)
