The Spokesman-Review

Red Sox 9, Orioles 4: At Baltimore, Manny Ramirez hit his 501st home run, Mike Lowell and J.D. Drew also connected, and Boston continued its hitting revival at the expense of the Orioles.

Royals 6, Indians 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Brian Bannister pitched into the eighth and Mark Grudzielanek and Jose Guillen homered to help the Royals beat Cleveland, a day after Kansas City snapped a 12-game losing streak.

Rays 4, White Sox 3 (10): At St. Petersburg, Fla., Gabe Gross hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving East-leading Tampa Bay a comeback victory over Chicago. Gross, making a rare start against left-handed pitching, lined a two-run triple off Mark Buehrle to make it 3-all in the fifth. Gross then delivered his third homer of the season on an 0-2 pitch from lefty Matt Thornton in the 10th.

Twins 5, Yankees 1: At Minneapolis, Michael Cuddyer drove in three runs and Minnesota’s bullpen came through with scoreless relief after starter Nick Blackburn was hit in the nose by a line drive during the Twins’ victory over New York.

Athletics 13, Rangers 8: At Arlington, Texas, Jack Cust and Mark Ellis homered in a nine-run seventh inning as Oakland rallied for a victory over Texas to end a four-game losing streak.

Angels 4, Blue Jays 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Toronto closer B.J. Ryan hit Howie Kendrick with a bases-loaded pitch in the ninth inning to force in the tying run, and Maicer Izturis singled home the game-winner one pitch later to give Los Angeles a victory over the Blue Jays.
