Huskies linebacker Savannah breaks left arm off the field

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

SEATTLE – Washington will be without starting outside linebacker E.J. Savannah for as long as three months after he broke his left arm in a non-football related incident.

A school official confirmed Tuesday that Savannah recently broke the humerus bone in his left arm.

It could be a costly injury for the Huskies as Savannah was the team’s leading tackler last season with 111. He was held out for the first half of spring practice after missing some off-season workouts, but was still expected to be a key component of Washington’s revamped defense under new defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.

The Huskies begin the season on Aug. 30 at Oregon, and face a rough first month of the season with home games against BYU and Oklahoma.
