Thank government for high costs

The Spokesman-Review

What if our government at all levels denied permits for additional bakeries because the East-West Society for Sasquatch decided the heat from additional ovens would overheat the Sasquatch?

And what if the government restricted the amount of acres where farmers could plant wheat, as someone saw their Keebler gerbil sneeze on Tuesday instead of Thursday of last year?

If the government took these idiotic actions, what would happen to the price of bread, baked goods and products made with wheat? Then to throw the blame, the government would quickly curse the farmers and bakers for manipulating the market and causing skyrocketing prices.

It sounds silly to me, too. But when was the last time our government permitted a fuel refinery to be built? When was the last time our government authorized additional oil drilling sites? Remember the last time a nuclear power production plant was built? For over 30 years our own government has not allowed our nation’s energy production capacity to keep up with our nation’s growing economy.

Next time you fill your tank, thank your government leaders for the high price and for ensuring the Sasquatch is on the endangered species list – sounds silly to me too!
