Media failed on oil prices

The Spokesman-Review

When the petroleum industry first tried the same tactic that the pharmaceuticals used, there was no concentrated effort by the news media to investigate this rip-off. The massive jump in the price of diesel, stove oil, jet fuel over the regular price of 2 or 5 cents higher than regular gas.

Had the news media got on this as they have on Anna N. Smith, Britney Spears, day after day after day, Congress would have gotten very nervous and would have done something.

We have in our government those who would worship the golden cow and we know what Moses would do with them. So the blame for our fuel problems belongs first to Congress, then the media and lastly to you and I for electing those who look out for themselves first, their contributors next, then maybe this wonderful country that we all love.

The media can still put pressure on with a concentrated effort if they really cared for this country and not just the bottom line, but I doubt very much if they will do anything that is not is their self-interest.
