Statement misreported

Spokane Mayor Mary Verner said a lot of the headaches in the River Park Square controversy could have been avoided had the city required Cowles Co. to guarantee payment of a federally backed loan used for the redevelopment of the mall. Because of a reporter’s error, a story Saturday reported Verner’s statement incorrectly.
