Chattaroy Community Church, 3711 E. Chattaroy Road, is sponsoring a 5K fun run and walk, a car show, and a flea market on June 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Proceeds will make it possible for underprivileged children to attend Union Gospel Mission summer camp.

The event will also feature a silent auction, bake sale, and gospel music.

The entry fee for the fun run is $10 or $5 for those younger than 18. Race participants will receive a free water bottle.

Pre-registration is encouraged, but runners and walkers may also sign up at the pre-race instruction at Chattaroy Elementary School at 8:45 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m.

A $5 entry fee is required for those interested in the car show. The car show will be held at the church.

To pre-register for the race call Russ Lawrence at 238-6198 or for more information call 238-6051.

Spokane County

Adult summer reading program

The Spokane County Library District is offering a summer reading program to adults to run with the annual children’s summer reading program.

Adults in the program will be asked to read three books and log the books they read. Once done, they can turn the log into the local library branch and receive a two-for-one admission coupon to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture.

Participants can register at any of the 10 county branches.

Both reading programs run through August.
