Rays 4, Marlins 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Matt Garza pitched seven strong innings and Jonny Gomes homered in his first at-bat since serving a five-game suspension for his part in a bench-clearing brawl, leading Tampa Bay past Florida.

Tigers 12, Dodgers 7: At Detroit, Miguel Cabrera and Marcus Thames homered and the Tigers scored nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined to beat Los Angeles. Cabrera, Thames, Curtis Granderson and Edgar Renteria each drove in two runs for Detroit.

Red Sox 6, Reds 4 (10): At Cincinnati, Kevin Youkilis singled, doubled and hit a tiebreaking homer in the 10th inning, rallying Boston to a victory over the Reds. Craig Hansen pitched the 10th for his first career save.

Cubs 6, Blue Jays 2: At Toronto, Jason Marquis tossed seven-plus innings to record his third consecutive victory and Reed Johnson hit a three-run homer in Chicago’s victory over Blue Jays.

Yankees 8, Astros 4: At Houston, Mike Mussina pitched six solid innings for his 10th win and helped put New York three games better than .500 for the first time this season in a victory over the Astros.

Braves 9, Angels 4: At Anaheim, Calif., Charlie Morton won in his major league debut, Brandon Jones hit his first career homer and Mark Teixeira had three RBIs, leading Atlanta to a win over Los Angeles.

Rockies 2, White Sox 0: At Chicago, Jeff Baker doubled and scored the go-ahead run and Colorado snapped the White Sox’s nine-game home winning streak with a win over Chicago. The Rockies won despite going 1 for 15 with runners in scoring position.

Athletics 4, Giants 0: At San Francisco, Rich Harden pitched one-hit ball for six innings and matched his season high with nine strikeouts, and Kurt Suzuki hit his first career triple in Oakland’s win over the Giants.

Twins 9, Brewers 4 (12): At Milwaukee, Brian Buscher singled with the bases loaded and pinch-hitter Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run triple and scored on an error in the 12th inning to rally Minnesota past the Brewers.

Orioles 8, Pirates 7: At Baltimore, Oscar Salazar homered in the ninth inning and Ramon Hernandez added a two-out RBI single to end a back-and-forth duel and give the Orioles a win over Pittsburgh.

Padres 8, Indians 3 (10): At Cleveland, Kevin Kouzmanoff’s grand slam highlighted San Diego’s five-run 10th inning, and the Padres beat the Indians.

Royals 12, Diamondbacks 3: At Phoenix, rookie Mike Aviles had four hits and Kansas City hammered Randy Johnson and Arizona to get the victory over the Diamondbacks.

Rangers vs. Mets, ppd.: At New York, the game between Texas and the Mets was rained out and will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
