The Spokesman-Review

Diamondbacks 2, Red Sox 1: At Boston, Dan Haren was dominant over seven shutout innings, limiting the Red Sox to just two hits in Arizona’s win over Boston. Haren walked one and fanned five, winning his fifth consecutive start. Chad Tracy struck out looking three times against Red Sox starter Josh Beckett. Brandon Lyon worked the ninth for his 16th save in 18 chances.

Angels 3, Nationals 2: At Washington, Garret Anderson’s eighth-inning single drove in the go-ahead run, and Los Angeles went on to beat the Nationals. The Angels’ John Lackey allowed six hits and two runs – one earned – in eight innings, striking out six and walking one.

Royals 8, Rockies 4: At Kansas City, Brian Bannister picked up his third straight victory, Mark Teahen hit a three-run homer and the Royals beat Colorado for their eighth win in nine games. Kansas City’s hot streak has all come against National League clubs, and its 10-3 record is the best in interleague play. Bannister gave up three hits and three runs, all unearned, while striking out five.
