Wampus Cats, Miners eye 4th

The Clark Fork Wampus Cats and Wallace Miners know each other well after playing each other twice during the regular season when they were co-North Star League champions.

They will renew acquaintances today when they play for fourth place in the Idaho State 1A tournament.

Drew Wilkinson hit 7 of 14 field goals and 13 of 16 free throws on his way to a game-high 30 points and the Wampus Cats (19-6) defeated the Clark County Bobcats (18-7) 67-53 in a loser-out game Friday at Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho.

Meanwhile, Jordan Beehner scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Miners (18-7) past the Murtaugh Red Devils (17-9) 66-45 at Vallivue.

Moscow 43, Emmett 33: Anthony Williams scored 15 points to lead the Bears (9-14) past the Huskies (17-8) at the College of Idaho, also in Caldwell.

Moscow will face Century in the consolation championship game today.

Buhl 59, Bonners Ferry 48: Brad Twiss had 20 points to lead the Indians (18-9) past the Badgers (14-11) in a loser-out game at Meridian High School in Meridian, Idaho.

AJ Bennett paced Bonners Ferry with 16 points.

Weiser 58, Kellogg 44: Grayson Duren and Willie Overgaard had 13 points apiece in the Wolverines’ (18-7) victory over the Wildcats (16-7).

Kenny Stuart led Kellogg with 13 points. The Wildcats’ season is over.
