In brief: Reeve Foundation donates $5,000 to Camp All-Stars

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation recently donated $5,000 to the Coeur d’Alene’s specialized needs recreation program.

The money will be used to provide camp fees and pay for gas to transport children to Camp All-Stars.

The grant is one of about 100 that the foundation made recently, totaling $800,000. To date the foundation has donated $12 million to programs and groups dedicated to curing spinal cord injuries and improving the quality of life of those who are paralyzed.

Bushner forum canceled

The community forum with North Idaho College vice president for instruction candidate Therese Bushner originally scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdayin Molstead Library’s Todd Hall at NIC has been canceled. Bushner is no longer a candidate for the position.

The two remaining community forums will proceed as scheduled.

The open forum with Jay Lee will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Molstead Library’s Todd Hall at NIC. Lee is currently the dean of career and technical education at Rochester Community and Technical College in Minnesota.

Girl Scout board chair named

Jan Richardson is the new board of directors chair for Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Richardson has been the president of Spokane Motor Cars Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo since March 2004.

Richardson grew up with Girl Scouts and has served on the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council since 2004. Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho is a newly merged council, combining resources and staff of the former Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council based in Spokane and Girl Scouts Mid-Columbia Council based in Kennewick. Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho currently serves more than 8,000 Girl Scouts and 2,500 adult volunteers in 32 counties.

Tribute to pianist Friday

Marsha Bjornn will present a tribute to Clara Schumann, the classical pianist known as “The High Priestess of Music,” on Friday at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at The Old Church in Post Falls. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

In full costume, Bjornn will share the rich music and history of Clara Schumann, one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic Era. The show is sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council and Music City of Coeur d’Alene.

Bjornn is an adjunct faculty member at BYU-Idaho and has performed throughout the Northwest.

Tickets are $5.
