Sam Skillingstad went the distance for host Shadle Park (2-0), striking out 14, as the Highlanders cruised to an 18-0 victory against the Rogers Pirates (0-3) in Greater Spokane League action Tuesday.

Skillingstad gave up one hit to Mindy Tremblay, Rogers’ starting pitcher, who broke up Skillingstad’s bid for perfection in the fifth inning.

Also in the GSL, the East Valley Knights (1-2) scored four runs in the first inning and held off the host Gonzaga Prep Bullpups 8-7. Jenn Rambo belted two home runs and had five RBIs for the Bullpups (2-2). … Kelsie Vallies tallied 13 strikeouts for the host North Central Indians (4-0) and they handled the Lewis and Clark Tigers (0-4) 11-1. North Central’s Kim Hare had three hits, including a home run and two RBIs. … The Central Valley Bears (3-1) shut out the visiting Mt. Spokane Wildcats (3-1) 10-0 behind the pitching of Alyssa Erickson, who had 11 strikeouts. …Mead’s game at University was postponed because of rain and rescheduled for Monday.

Jessica Ulrich earned the victory for the host Lewiston Bengals (3-0, 1-0) as they beat the Moscow Bears (0-2, 0-1) 3-0. Ulrich collected three hits, including a double. … The Lake City (0-2) game against Post Falls (1-0) was canceled because of field conditions and no makeup date has been announced.

Boys soccer

Dan Melvin’s goal in overtime won it for the Medical Lake Cardinals (2-2, 1-2) as they beat the host Clarkston Bantams (0-5, 0-3) 3-2 in the Great Northern League. … Tyler Bland scored the lone goal of the contest in the 76th minute, lifting the Riverside Rams (1-3, 1-1) over host Colville (0-2), 1-0. Bland and Indians defender Grant Scherette arrived at the ball at the same time, but Bland was able to get his foot on the ball first and put it above goalkeeper James Jackson’s head and into the goal for the victory. … The Cheney Blackhawks (4-0, 3-0) blanked the host West Valley Eagles (2-1, 1-1) 5-0 behind Mitchell Welter’s two scores. … Jack Robertson had two goals for the Deer Park Stags (3-1, 2-0) and five players scored as they downed the visiting Chewelah Cougars (0-3, 0-2) 7-2 . … The match between the Lakeside Eagles and host Pullman Greyhounds was postponed and no makeup game has been announced.

The Inland Empire League game between the Lake City Timberwolves and Post Falls Trojans was postponed because of field conditions and no makeup game has been scheduled.
