Adam “Pacman” Jones offered a three-hour mea culpa Tuesday with someone who knows what it’s like to be an NFL outcast.

The troubled cornerback, suspended from the NFL and unlikely to rejoin the Tennessee Titans if he gets to play again, was a guest on Michael Irvin’s radio show amid speculation he could become the Dallas Cowboys’ next reclamation project.

Jones was equal parts contrite and defiant in discussing his six arrests since being drafted three years ago, taking responsibility for “bad decisions” while disputing details of the police reports.

“Linebacker D.D. Lewis, who spent his first five NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, and defensive end Chris Cooper re-signed with the team.

“Denver’s Brandon Marshall could miss up to four months of off-season preparations after slicing his right forearm in a freak accident.

Marshall said he slipped on a fast food bag Saturday while wrestling with family members at a Florida resort and put his right arm through a home entertainment center.

“Michael Vick’s trial on state dogfighting charges was rescheduled for June 27 in Sussex, Va.

“Left guard Rich Seubert signed a three-year extension with the New York Giants.

“South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia, 20, has been suspended from the team after being ticketed for underage drinking in his third run-in with police in a year.

“Arkansas linebacker Freddie Fairchild was suspended from the team after he was charged on suspicion of beating a woman.

Basketball

Lofton will still play

Tennessee guard and leading scorer Chris Lofton has a minor leg injury but is expected to play Thursday against Louisville in the NCAA tournament.

Lofton was at practice but limited his activity to shooting free throws and riding an exercise bicycle.

“Michael Beasley is still undecided, but his coach, Frank Martin, expects the Kansas State star freshman to head into the NBA draft.

“Santa Clara will not renew the contract of women’s coach Michelle Bento-Jackson.

“Ollie Bailey had 15 points and 16 rebounds, and Oklahoma City became the NAIA’s first repeat men’s champion in eight years with a 75-72 win over Mountain State (W.Va.) at Kansas City, Mo.

“Vanguard University of Southern California became the first team west of Oklahoma to win the NAIA women’s Division I tournament championship, beating Trevecca Nazarene of Tennessee 72-59 in Jackson, Tenn.

Federer sweeps awards

Roger Federer was honored as the ATP Tour’s player of the year for 2007. He also won the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for the fourth consecutive year and the Fans’ Favorite Award for the fifth consecutive time.

“Stephanie Rice set the 200-meter individual medley world record at Australia’s Olympic swimming trials in Sydney, her second world record of the meet. Rice finished in 2 minutes 8.92 seconds, trimming 0.80 seconds from the record.
