Camp Reed schedule for summer

Editor’s note: Information for YMCA’s Camp Reed was accidentally left out of our April 16 Summer Camp Guide, as well as the update that ran last Monday.

Camp Reed is 30 miles north of Spokane on Fan Lake. For more information, go to www.campreed.org or call (509) 838-3577 ext. 142. Some of the sessions are already sold out.

Traditional camp: Activities include: swimming, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, archery and riflery instruction, leather work, pottery, painting, overnight under the stars, campfires, night exploring, and skits. Weeklong program for boys and girls entering grades 3-9.

When: Eight sessions June 22-Aug. 16

Cost: $334

CIT Program: Designed for high school students entering their sophomore year, the CIT program features group dynamics, leadership, stewardship, hard work, self esteem, and peer communication experiences and training. Each CIT group attends two consecutive weeks of camp – one “work week” and one 300-mile bike trip week.

When: Four sessions June 22-Aug. 16

Cost: $435

Mini Camp: Mini campers have the opportunity to “experience camp” under the watchful eye of counselors and junior counselors. As a group, mini campers swim, boat, fashion arts and crafts, and participate in many traditional camp activities. They may even be able to go on a treasure (or turtle) hunt. Two-night camp for boys and girls entering grades 1-2.

When: Eight sessions June 29-Aug. 16

Cost: $205

Family Camp Long Weekend: Each family will be assigned their own bunk style rustic cabin with use of a shared central restroom and shower facility, with meals served in a central lodge. Activities include swimming, canoeing, hiking, basketball, soccer, archery, bb guns, climbing tower, chapel, critter talk and campfires. A challenge course program will be available for older children and adults for an additional cost.

When: Aug. 21-24

Cost: $120/person, families with more than two children get a 50 percent discount for each additional child.
