Roskelley reckless
I can’t imagine why former county Commissioner John Roskelley is reckless with the truth (Roundtable, May 2), especially regarding such important topics as emergency communications, 911 and Crime Check.
Roskelley would have you believe that:
1. Our local experts in the field of emergency communication would build a system that was incompatible with the rest of the state of Washington or the federal government. The facts are the new system will not only be compatible with the entire state of Washington and federal government but also our neighboring state of Idaho.
2. He states we already pay this tax. We do not. John knows that he failed to make sure that tax was spent for emergency communications when he was a county commissioner.
3. He claims the state is designing a system for the West Side. The project he mentions is a joint effort between King, Pierce and Snohomish counties – not a state project. The state is not prepared to help local governments with this issue. They have a $500 million to $1 billion problem of their own in reference to emergency communications.
John, the truth matters.
