The week of April 28-May 5, Liberty Lake police responded to a car vs. bicycle accident that resulted in minor injuries to the 14-year-old boy on the bike. The accident happened at 5 p.m. April 29 at Stevenson Road and Sinto Avenue. The youth had minor scratches on his knees and shins and the driver was not cited, said police chief Brian Asmus.

During the week officers arrested two drivers suspected of driving under the influence; a 27-year-old Otis Orchards man arrested on charges of reckless driving by speed, was riding a motorcycle and was going an estimated 100 mph in a 25 mps zone on Harvard Road, then was paced by a police officer on Interstate 90 going 100 mph, Asmus reported.

Police also arrested a 24-year-old Liberty Lake man on a charge of domestic violence assault and discovered he was wanted by Spokane County on warrants for driving with a suspended license and theft.

Three citations were given for license and plates required, plus six for failure to show liability insurance, and eight for speeding. Citations were handed out for driving with a suspended license, driving in violation of restriction, defective exhaust, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Officers responded to calls for littering/pollution and lost or found property. They also conducted three car-seat inspections and two commercial vehicle inspections.
