In brief: Huetter Mansion topic of hearing

The Spokesman-Review

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m. on the second floor of Spokane City Hall on a proposal by Gonzaga University to move the Huetter Mansion at the Bishop White Seminary from its present location to a new location across Addison Street.

The move is being made to save the historic building at 429 E. Sharp Ave. and make way for construction of a new seminary. The plan calls for putting the Huetter Mansion at 503 E. Sharp Ave. and moving an existing building at 503 E. Sharp to 511 E. Sharp.

Free dump passes will be distributed

The Northwest Neighborhood Association will issue 100 of its free dump passes to residents of the neighborhood tonight after a general membership meeting that starts at 7 p.m. at Browne Elementary School, 5102 N. Driscoll Blvd.

Dump passes are good May 17 through June 1, and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. A driver’s license or a utility bill is required to verify residence in the Northwest Neighborhood. The Northwest Neighborhood covers the area west of Ash Street to the Spokane River, bounded by Belt Street and Indiana Avenue on the south, and by Francis Avenue on the north to Fairview Avenue, including Westgate and Northwest Terrace.

Any dump passes remaining after tonight’s meeting distribution will be offered on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the COPS Northwest Shop, 2215 W. Wellesley Ave., Suite D.

For more information, call Chris Wright, NWNA cleanup coordinator, at 413-6735. In addition, the association will talk about the design of a new swimming pool at Shadle Park following a decision by the Park Board to place the pool next to the branch library there.
