Kids show their stuff in Junior Lilac Parade

Mead Middle School was the grand sweepstakes winner and Centennial Middle School of West Valley won its division and earned the best adherence to theme award in the marching band competition at Saturday’s Junior Lilac Parade.

Middle and elementary school bands and marching units were among the many parade participants along with community groups, floats and political figures.

The 70th annual Spokane Lilac Festival Armed Forces Torchlight Parade is scheduled downtown Saturday at 7:45 p.m. The theme for 2008 is “Salute to Service.”
