National Merit Scholarship winners

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. announced area winners for the $2,500 award. Students are listed by their hometowns.

EWU scholarships

Eastern Washington University announced students who had been awarded scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year recently.

Chris Lorenz Miclat was awarded a $2,000 R.G. Andres Trust Scholarship. He is a graduate of East Valley High School and the son of Lynn Marcelo of Spokane.

Robert Delafuente received a Steiner Family Scholarship for $250. He is a graduate of Moses Lake High School and the son of Octavio and Louise Delafuente of Spokane.

Anne Peasley of Spokane was awarded an ASEWU Scholarship for $1,000. She is a graduate of University High School.

Jessica Flexer was awarded a Wittenbach Education Scholarship for $1,500. She is the daughter of James and Margaret Flexer of Spokane, and graduated from West Valley High School.

Lisa Meier received a $1,500 Whittenbach Education Scholarship. She is the daughter of Daniel and Stephanie Meier of Spokane, and is a graduate of Lewis and Clark.

Heidi Westfall was awarded a $1,500 Wittenbach Education Scholarship. She is a graduate of Cheney High School, and is the daughter of Steve and Linda Walker of Spokane.

Justine Kondo was awarded an Alumni Scholarship for $1,000. She is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, and is the daughter of Loren and Christy Kondo of Spokane.

Casey Whitehead received an Alumni Scholarship for $1,000. He is a graduate of Central Valley High School, and is the son of Gerald and Connie Whitehead of Spokane Valley.

Traci Naccarato received a Eugene and Vee Fletcher Scholarship for $1,025. She graduated from University High School and is the daughter of Kevin and Paula Ferris of Spokane.

Daniel Harrington was awarded a $1,420 Stanley and Bernice Fahlgren Scholarship. He is the son of Roy Harrington and Anna-Christice Felice of Spokane, and is a graduate of Ferris High School.

Alexis McDuffie received a Marjorie Benedict Holman Scholarship for $1,275. She is the daughter of Gregory and Colleen Butler of Spokane, and is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.
