Handle on Business: Auction center offers unique items

Nils Rosdahl Correspondent

This business sells an eclectic array of items. This week’s inventory included furniture, antiques, kitchen items, lunch boxes and a bird cage. Recently an old knife sold for $600.

It’s Premier Auction Center on the south side of the Post Falls Outlet Mall at 4209 W. Riverbend Drive (south of Interstate 90 on the Pleasant View exit). Auctions, with two rings operating simultaneously, start at 5:30 p.m. Fridays with previews at 4. Consignments are accepted 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

“It’s amazing to watch some of our customers bidding on both auctions at the same time without missing a beat!” exclaimed Eileen Taylor, who owns and runs the business with her husband, Ron, and daughter and son-in-law, Kym and Nate Nagel. The Taylors also have Snaps Manufacturing, making leveling items for fifth-wheel travel trailers; the Nagels have three FedEx contractor routes.

Premier Auction seats about 100 people with no admission fee, a concession stand and no smoking in the building. Phone 777-8724 or (509) 496-0838.

Prestige Realty in The White House

The historic White House at 805 E. Sherman Ave., Coeur d’Alene, is now the home of Prestige Realty, a new and original real estate company.

With 20 consultants, the company operates with three unique aspects: Several of the consultants are salaried rather than commissioned, customers are offered a rebate program, and the company has a goal of supporting the community, offering free classes in real estate, home repair and maintenance, and adding charitable giving into its grand opening this summer.

Founder Thomas Jones and broker Karen Pichotta are Idaho Falls and Coeur d’Alene natives, respectively. He came to North Idaho to help launch the Center Partners call-center sites, and she has been in real estate since 1996. They plan to expand throughout North Idaho and Spokane.

The business occupies the entire White House, which was built by steamboat magnate J.C. White in 1904. The house had been under the ownership of just three families until recently. Prestige Realty hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Phone 765-4500 or e-mail info@prestigerealtyni.com.

Brody Mack offers men’s, kids’ clothing

Stylish clothing for men and children is featured at Brody Mack, which opened last week at 513 Sherman Ave. Owner Katie Ogle created the store’s name by combining the names of her children, Brock, Dylan and Macy Kate.

The store offers designer clothing from denim to linen products for men and children sizes 4 to 14. Boys’ sizes 16 and up will be added in the fall while older girls will be advised to shop at neighboring Tiffany Blue, owned by Ogle’s sister-in-law Kelli Ogle.
