Cast saves ‘Wedding Crashers’

By MIKE HUGHES Gannett News Service

Tonight’s might-see

“Wedding Crashers,” 8 p.m., CBS. Big weddings seem to have endless food, fun and drink. So why not just slip in?

That works fine for two guys – until one falls in love.

This loose notion survives because of its cast. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are fun; Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher are charming. Also, Will Ferrell pops in uncredited.

Tonight’s might-see II

“Accidental Friendship,” 9 p.m., Hallmark Channel. In “Grey’s Anatomy,” Chandra Wilson is Dr. Bailey, crisp and forceful. Here, she plays the homeless Yvonne, clinging to her dogs and her dignity.

There are lots of twists that would seem contrived, except this is based on a true story.

There’s good work from Ben Vereen and Kathleen Munroe.

Sunday’s must-see

“Desperate Housewives,” 9 p.m., ABC. Tonight, a fire puts everyone in danger. One man will emerge a hero, ABC says; one or more will be killed.

Before that, Susan’s young daughter arrives with an older guy (Steven Weber, 47). Lynette, Gabrielle and Susan learn key secrets. Then the fire starts during a battle of the bands.

Sunday’s might-see

“Masterpiece Contemporary: Filth,” 8 p.m., KSPS. In 1963, the once-grey BBC loosened its sexual standards. Mary Whitehouse (Julie Walters) launched a watchdog group; Sir Hugh Greene (Hugh Bonneville), the network chief, refused to meet her.

Whitehouse persisted and may have been one reason Greene resigned six years later. She continued her dissent for three decades into her 80s.
