Senior insurance advice available

The Senior Health Insurance Benefit Advisors (SHIBA) will be at the Blanchard Community Center, 685 Rusho Lane, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Three advisers will be available to help Blanchard seniors make decisions concerning open enrollment for Medicare and supplemental insurance coverage, changes in Advantage Health Programs and Part D-Prescription Drug Plans.

Attendees will need their Social Security number and a list of prescription drugs including name, dose and quantity taken each day.

Coeur d’Alene

Concert, auction to benefit resident

The Lake City Community Church, 6000 Ramsey Road, will be hosting a benefit concert and silent auction, from 6 to 9 p.m., tonight for Coeur d’Alene resident Justin Zitny and his family.

Zitny suffered a brain aneurysm on Sept. 10, followed by a second aneurysm and stroke a week later. After spending time at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, he is receiving care at North Idaho Advanced Care in Post Falls.

Chariot Sky and Sweet Adeline’s Coeur d’Alene Chorus will perform, and desserts and coffee will be served.

The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.

Filmmaker to sign books

Carol Muzik, a local author, illustrator and filmmaker, will be at Hastings, 101 Best Ave., in Coeur d’Alene on Dec. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m., to autograph copies of “Raising Lucy Coloring Storybook and Video.”

Food, beds sought for shelter animals

North Idaho Insurance Professionals is putting together a wish list and donation drive for animals in need in local shelters. Beds, blankets, and food are greatly needed.

Collection boxes will be located in the NIIP’s members’ offices until Dec. 12. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations.

Sandpoint

Model UN night planned Dec. 8

Sandpoint High School will host the Model United Nations International Evening at the Talus Rock Retreat, 291 Syringa Heights Road, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

The evening will include wine, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Students have chosen a country to represent during the event, and they will dress in the country’s attire and serve appetizers from that country.

Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple. Only 130 tickets are available.
