Orofino dominates IML football all-league list

Intermountain League football champion Orofino dominated most of the all-league individual honors.

Orofino junior quarterback Michael Welch was named most valuable player. Orofino senior running back Dylan Midstokke was named offensive player of the year and the Maniacs’ Bo Brooks, a junior linebacker, was named defensive player of the year.

Timberlake senior Ammon Johnston was named lineman of the year.

Orofino coach Galen Kuykendall was named coach of the year.

Eight Orofino players were named first team all-league. Timberlake had just three first-team selections.

•The North Star League announced its all-league selections.

Kootenai senior tight end/linebacker Dakota Amy was named the league most valuable player.

Joining Amy on the all-league team were four teammates. They are: Ben Shannon, Kolten Willms, Jake Hall and Cody Parker.

Others named to the team are: Casey McKinnon of Mullan; Will Dole, Alex Campbell, Levi Dole and Merlin Weaslehead of Lakeside; Jorden Benz, Jared Bilaski and Cody Cline of Wallace; and Chase Chowning and Howard Katzenburg of Clark Fork.

Volleyball

St. Maries senior setter Michelle Guidry was named the Intermountain League’s most valuable player.

Joining her on the team are: teammates Marlee Masterson and Bree Arrhenius; Ashley Winkelseth and Hayley Olson of Bonners Ferry; Breanna Fuechsel and Chelsea Hoffman of Kellogg; Kayla Lott of Orofino; Taylor Stewart, Melissa Hopkins and Chelsea Linton of Priest River; and Megan Hill of Timberlake.

Priest River coach Kati Bodecker was named coach of the year.

•The Central Idaho League announced its all-league team.

Katie Baker and Sabrina Ewing of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy were named to the first team. Shelby Cash of Kamiah was named the most valuable player.

Soccer

The Intermountain League announced its all-league teams.

In boys, Bonners Ferry senior Miguel Mendez was named the most valuable player. Bonners Ferry coach Wayne Wilkerson was named coach of the year.

Others named to the team were: Cody Dickman, Kendal McMillen, Keaton Buell and Eric Doman of St. Maries; Jody Wilkerson, Alex Mendez, John Wakkinen and Mike Strappelli of Bonners Ferry; and Rob Cummings and Trevor Bansemer of Orofino.

In the girls, 11 players were named all-league. They are: Jacqi Pickering, Jordan Day and Ryder Ashcraft of Kellogg; Shelby Milsap, Sarah Nemeth, Katie Nemeth and Rebeca Nemeth of Orofino; Rachael Pruitt of Bonners Ferry; Katie Pettit of Priest River; and Jennifer Connerley and Elsa Krier of St. Maries.

Kellogg coach Steve Mills was named coach of the year.
