Oakes leads Whits

Lindsey Oakes scored her first two goals of the season Wednesday to lead Whitworth University to a 2-1 women’s soccer win over visiting Whitman College (5-3, 3-2 Northwest Conference).

Whitworth is 6-2-1, 2-2-1.

Volleyball

Joey Larsen and Brittini Butler had 18 kills apiece as Columbia Basin (16-12, 4-1) took over first place alone in the NWAACC’s East Division with a 3-2 win over Community Colleges of Spokane at Spokane Falls CC.

Nicole Solum and Brynn DeLong of the Sasquatch (16-14, 2-3) combined for 27 kills and 24 digs.
