Wheat Montana stores closing

Wheat Montana recently made the decision to close both of the retail deli locations it opened in the past year.

When asked via phone interview about the quick turnaround, the company’s director of operations, Jeremy Fritz, said that neither Spokane’s South Hill nor the Coeur d’Alene location made enough money to justify continuing to keep them open.

For the time being, Wheat Montana – which also distributes its bread to area grocery stores – isn’t completely shutting the books on operating deli sandwich shops in the area.

“I think that possibility is always going to be out there, but we’re refocusing on the bread and the flour and the Montana stores,” Fritz said.

Octobrewfest returns

Tickets are currently on sale for Octobrewfest, the annual suds-soaked benefit for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which returns to the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana Ave., on Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m.

This year, the event will feature microbrews from nearly 30 regional, national and global breweries, and also will include silent and live auctions.

Advance tickets are $13 through TicketsWest, ticketswest.com or (800) 325-SEAT. Admission is $15 at the door, and includes four beer sample tokens and a commemorative mug.
