Berry’s a very kittenish mommy

You may know her as Catwoman. Or Oscar-winning actress.

Maybe even as a new mommy worth checking out twice.

But to Esquire magazine, Halle Berry is something more. The men’s mag has awarded its highest honor – Sexiest Woman Alive – to the 42-year-old working mom. It’s even featured her on the magazine’s Web site.

Berry took the honor with style and at least a modicum of modesty.

“I don’t know exactly what it means, but being 42 and having just had a baby, I think I’ll take it,” said Berry, whose daughter, Nahla, was born in March.

“Sexiness is a state of mind – a comfortable state of being,” she said. “It’s about loving yourself in your most unlovable moments.”

And Berry didn’t forget her fans: “I share this title with every woman,” she said.

It’s mommy time in L.A.

Elle’s Women in Hollywood affair Monday night at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons featured a number of familiar faces, including Jane Fonda, Sigourney Weaver and Anne Hathaway, plus new mothers Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lopez.

“I’m still figuring it out,” Lopez said of her new motherhood. “My whole world has changed. It’s going to affect every single decision of my life.”

He’s clearly a Method actor

David Duchovny plays a sex-obsessed author on Showtime’s series “Californication.” Now comes word that the 48-year-old actor’s real-life treatment for “sex addiction” is over. “David has successfully completed his rehabilitation, he is out of rehab, and will be starting a movie soon,” says his lawyer, Stanton L. Stein. Duchovny is married to actress Téa Leoni, with whom he has two children.

Past, present … uh, future?

Jimmy Kimmel, 40, and Sarah Silverman have rekindled their romance, People reports. Yet the 37-year old Silverman dissembled while talking to Barbara Walters and Joy Behar on ABC’s “The View.” “It’s not like a big drama thing, we’re just not defining it. We’re just being right now. Is that Okaaaay?”

Or maybe she’ll have a real life

“American Idol” alum Paris Bennett, 20, gave birth on Monday to a 5-pound, 15-ounce baby girl after five hours of labor. The name: Egypt. “Man, does she have lungs on her,” Bennett said. “I guess she’s gearing up to be the next ‘American Idol.’ ”

Ratings will heal any rift

David Letterman was visibly miffed when Republican presidential candidate John McCain canceled a recent appearance on “The Late Show.” But Letterman’s reps are reportedly trying to get McCain to appear on the show in time for the final presidential debate on Wednesday.
