Class for married, engaged couples planned

A new class for married and engaged couples is starting up at the Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave. The Family Life Homebuilders study is called Building Your Mate’s Self-esteem. An orientation for the 10-week class will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 19.

The class size is limited to 10 to 15 couples. The cost is $20 per couple for materials. Call the church at 926-1545 to register or for more information.

Concerts

• Opportunity Presbyterian Church will host its first regular “Singsperation” of the season on Sunday at 6 p.m. Those attending pick their favorite hymns to sing. The concerts will be offered on the second Sunday of each month through April. The church will provide soft-serve ice cream. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own toppings. The church is at 202 N. Pines Road.

• The men’s a capella group Rescue will perform in concert at 6 p.m. Friday at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place. The event is a fundraiser for the Valley Christian School scholarship fund. The evening also will include a catered meal. The cost is $35. Call 924-9131 for tickets.
