Shadle, Ferris in semifinals

Shadle Park and Ferris advanced to the semifinals of the Greater Spokane League slowpitch softball playoffs today with victories Monday.

Shadle (12-5), which finished third during the regular season, used a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by senior Kali Reid’s three-run home run, to overcome visiting sixth-place Rogers (7-10) 9-2. Reid had a three-hit day that also included a two-run homer in the third, and five RBIs.

Ferris (9-8), the fifth-place finisher, overcame a six-run deficit after three innings to knock off fourth-place North Central (9-8) 17-9 in a game that saw the teams combine for 35 hits, 28 of them singles.

Shadle will be at Central Valley (14-2) and Ferris at regular-season champion University (15-1) today at 4 p.m. The winners play Thursday at the home of the higher seed to determine the district champion.

Ferris knocked off CV 2-1 last Thursday to help U-Hi win a third straight league title.

Coeur d’Alene will play at rival Lake City on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. for the 5A Region I championship after both won semifinal matches.

Tyler Powers scored twice on penalty kicks and four teammates also found the back of the net as Lake City rolled over visiting Lewiston 6-0.

Coeur d’Alene beat visiting Post Falls 3-2 on Forrest Walker’s goal a minute into overtime. Carson Green’s pass from the end line found Walker near the goal mouth, and he converted.
