Boundary County

Commissioners OK bicycle route

The “A River Runs Through It” bike path, stretching from the Boundary County Fairgrounds to the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, recently received the Boundary County commissioners’ stamp of approval.

The county’s first designated bicycle route was put on hold after commissioners voiced their concerns over the narrow roadway of the path. The path was approved after a 2-1 vote, on the condition that the signage is revamped.

Commissioners concerns include appropriate language for signs about sharing the road, and making the path as safe as possible for motorists and bicyclists.
