Lewiston takes over first

Lewiston moved into first place in the Inland Empire League Friday with a 29-16 win over visiting Post Falls.

The Bengals (7-0 overall, 2-0 league) scored a clinching touchdown with 18 seconds left when quarterback Justin Podrabsky threw a 20-yard pass to Ridge Fuentes.

Lewiston led 14-7, but Post Falls (2-5, 0-2) pulled within 14-13 by the end of the third quarter.

The Trojans were driving with less than 4 minutes to go and were on Lewiston’s 18-yard line when they threw an interception on fourth and 13.

4A North

Moscow 41, Lakeland 21: The Washington brothers accounted for all six of the Bears’ (6-1) TDs as Moscow throttled the visiting Hawks (1-6) in a league opener.

Great Northern League

Pullman 55, Clarkston 0: This anticipated showdown turned into a whitewash by the visiting Greyhounds (5-2, 3-1), who hammered the lone remaining league unbeaten Bantams (3-4, 3-1). Five different players scored, led by Lance Keithley, who finished with 180 yards rushing.

West Valley 26, Colville 23 (OT): Nick Brown kicked a 28-yard field as the Eagles (5-2, 2-2) rallied to knock off the visiting Indians (4-3, 2-2). Quarterback Drew Clausen completed 23 of 40 for 323 yards and a touchdown for WV.

Deer Park 20, Cheney 19: The Stags (6-1, 3-1) held the visiting Blackhawks (4-3, 2-2) scoreless in the second half and Deer Park scored the final three TDs to pull out the win. Alex Wolf had two rushing TDs and threw for another score.

Medical Lake 22, Riverside 13: In a battle of winless league teams, the visiting Cardinals (1-5, 1-3) scored the winning TD when Nick Pacheco threw a 31-yard TD pass to Akira Payton.

Intermountain League

Timberlake 55, St. Maries 25: The visiting Tigers (3-4, 3-1) scored the first four TDs on their way to a convincing win over the Lumberjacks (2-5, 2-2). Gairet North rushed for 92 yards and four TDs.

Kellogg 15, Bonners Ferry 6: The Wildcats (3-4, 2-2) stayed in the playoff hunt by knocking the visiting Badgers (2-5, 0-4) out of the playoff picture. Cole Lewis scored on a 14-yard run to secure the win with 5:30 left.

Orofino 35, Priest River 6: Michael Welch scored two TDS to lead the host Maniacs (4-3, 3-1) over PR (4-3, 2-2).

Northeast A

Lakeside 21, Chewelah 19: Russel Whitley scored a late TD, but was tackled short of the goal line on a two-point attempt by Brady Blankevoort as the Eagles (5-2, 2-0) held off the visiting Cougars (3-3, 1-1) at Nine Mile Falls.

Kettle Falls 35, Newport 14: Trevor Zyskowski scored two TDs to lead the visiting Bulldogs (2-5, 2-2) past the Grizzlies (0-6, 0-4).

Northeast 2B

Colfax 45, Republic 6: The league-leading and visiting Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) scored seven straight TDs to put it away quickly over the Tigers (1-3, 1-3).

Reardan 42, Springdale 20: Chance Bell rushed for two TDs and threw two TD passes as the Indians (5-1, 3-0) handled the visiting Chargers (3-4, 1-3).

Lind-Ritzville 16, Davenport 8: Cory Whitmore scored on a 17-yard pass from Geoffrey Eastman with 3:07 left as the Broncos (4-2, 3-1) beat the host Gorillas (2-3, 1-2).

Southeast 2B

Asotin 41, Liberty Christian 20: The Panthers (6-1, 4-0) scored six straight TDs and never looked back in the win over the Patriots (0-7, 0-4) at Asotin.

Garfield-Palouse 36, Pomeroy 28: Tyson Palmer had nine catches for 120 yards and three TDs as the Vikings (6-0, 4-0) held off the visiting Pirates (1-4, 1-3).

Northeast 1B

Cusick 76, Inchelium 30: The league-leading Panthers (7-0), behind a school-record 438 yards passing from Spencer Shanholtzer, manhandled the Hornets (4-3) at Inchelium. Shanholtzer had six touchdown passes and rushed for another TD. Tony Louie had four TD passes for the Hornets.

Odessa 52, Wilbur-Creston 6: Ryan King threw three TD passes, finishing with 160 yards, as the visiting Tigers (6-1) handled the Wildcats (3-4).

Columbia 60, Curlew 12: Dallas McCoy rushed for 105 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns the Lions past the Panthers at Curlew.

Southeast 1B

Tri-Cities Prep 52, St. John-Endicott 14: Will Hoppes rushed for 108 yards and passed for 106 to go with four TDs to lead the Jaguars (6-0. 2-0) past the visiting Eagles (0-7, 0-3). Tri-Cities Prep blew it open with 31 unanswered points in the first quarter.

LaCrosse-Washtucna 50, Touchet 36: Garrett Blauert had 31 carries for 311 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigercats’ win over the host Indians.

North Star

Kootenai 58, Mullan 6: The visiting Warriors (7-0, 6-0) moved closer to clinching the league title by taking care of the Tigers before the game was called because of the mercy rule before halftime.

Wallace 50, Lakeside 44: The Miners (5-1) secured a state playoff berth with the win over the visiting Knights (3-5, 3-4). Jordan Benz scored Wallace’s final TD on a 66-yard run.

Non-league

Meridian 36, Lake City 29: The visiting Timberwolves (3-4), who trailed 28-14 after three quarters, took the lead on a 1-yard TD run by Jared Heston and a two-point conversion at 29-28 with 2 minutes remaining. But LC’s defense couldn’t stop the Warriors, who scored with 32 seconds left.

Freeman 33, White Swan 13: The visiting Scotties (5-1) put up 500 yards total offense, including 262 passing from Luke Mathews, to pull away.

Liberty JV 58, Selkirk 0: Travor Anderson rushed for 188 yards and four TDs.

Colton/Pullman Christian 72, Wellpinit 26: Sam Robertson tallied 411 yards including seven TDs to handle the visiting Redskins.
