Wallace healthy enough to start for Seahawks

Seattle’s coach confirmed Friday that Seneca Wallace will start Sunday night at Tampa Bay (4-2). This week’s practices in Renton, Wash., proved Wallace’s 5-week-old calf injury has healed enough for him to replace third-stringer Charlie Frye.
Matt Hasselbeck will not make today’s trip to Florida. The three-time Pro Bowl passer is continuing core strengthening exercises in his back for a bulging disk, which is pressing on a nerve and weakening his hyperextended right knee. He is out indefinitely.
•Romo questionable: The Cowboys listed two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo as questionable for Sunday’s game after he didn’t participate in practice, the last one before playing at St. Louis. Romo has a broken pinkie on his throwing hand.
•Winslow may play: Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow practiced in Berea, Ohio, for the first time since being hospitalized with an undisclosed illness and could play Sunday against Washington.
•Parker still out: Running back Willie Parker didn’t practice for a third straight day and won’t play in Pittsburgh’s game in Cincinnati because of a sprained left knee.

Turnesa, Kuchar lead
Marc Turnesa holed out from 159 yards for eagle on the par-4 18th hole to offset a 17th-hole double bogey and maintain a share of the lead in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at Las Vegas. Turnesa shot a 64 to match Matt Kuchar at 18-under-par 126.
•Lang, Pettersen share lead: Brittany Lang shot a 1-under 71 for a share of the second-round lead with Suzann Pettersen in the inaugural Kapalua (Hawaii) LPGA Classic.
Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum shot a 74 and was tied for 10th place while Wendy Ward of Edwall, Wash., shot a 72 and is tied for 31st.
•Bean leads at Woodlands: Andy Bean hit all 18 greens in regulation and finished with a 7-under 65 to take the first-round lead at the Champions Tour’s Administaff Small Business Classic in The Woodlands, Texas.
Motor racing
Qualifying rained out
For the ninth time this season – and for the third time in six races in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup – rain forced the cancellation of qualifying for a Cup event. With time trials rained out, and the grid set by owner points, Chase leader Jimmie Johnson will start from the pole in Sunday’s Tums QuikPak 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Second-place Jeff Burton will start beside Johnson.

Rangers shut out Leafs
Steve Valiquette outdueled Toronto’s Vesa Toskala in a goalie showdown, and Fredrik Sjostrom scored the winner in a shootout to lift the Rangers to a 1-0 NHL win over the Maple Leafs in New York.
