LC sophomore attains Eagle Scout

Scott Strong, a member of Boy Scout Troop 313, recently received his Eagle Scout award, the highest rank in Scouting.

For his project, Strong replaced the junction signs at the Nordic ski area at Mt. Spokane State Park. He is a sophomore at Lewis and Clark High School.

He is the son of Blair and Susan Strong of Spokane and a sophomore at Lewis and Clark High School.

•U.S. Air Force Captain Amanda Bergerson of Post Falls recently graduated from the commissioned officer’s training school at the Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. She is a graduate of Gonzaga Prep and the daughter of Larry and Judy Bergerson of Post Falls.

•Four area residents graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Michael Alsperger is the son of Kurt and Lorie Alsperger of Spokane and is a 2007 graduate from West Valley High School.

Air Force Airman Alisha Larrabee graduated from Medical Lake High School in 2007 and is the daughter of Robert Downs of Fairchild Air Force Base.

Air Force Airman Jacob Stevens is the son of Tricia Stevens of Pullman and graduated in 2005 from Pullman High School.

• Army Pvt. Randi Westover has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

She is the daughter of Mari Tiplady and James Westover, both of Spokane and a 2006 graduate of North Central High School.

Dwayne Dehlbom Jr. graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps leader development and assessment course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Lewis in Tacoma.

He is the son of Dwayne and Victoria Dehlbom of Pullman and graduated from Pullman High School in 2003.

•Eastern Washington University recently announced scholarships awarded to local students for the current academic year.

Stephane Bisignani received a $450 Charles P. Lund Music Scholarship. She is a 2003 graduate of Mead High School and the daughter of Gale Bisignani of Spokane.

Tatianna Cozub received a $1,250 Bi-Mart Scholarship. She is the daughter of Andrei and Ina Cozub of Spokane and graduated from University High School in 2005.

Charlee Ruchert was awarded a $2,300 Boeing Under-represented Student Scholarship. She is a graduate of Freeman High School and the daughter of Charles and Sandee Ruchert of Valleyford.

Todd Clark received a $1,000 Roland and Marian Lewis Scholarship. He is the son of John and Elizabeth Clark of Spokane Valley and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1984.

Christina Thomas received an $850 Lloyd and Thekla Rowles Scholarship. She is the daughter of Mark Ashburn of Spokane and Nancy Ashburn of Newport, Wash., and a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

Thomas Vogt was awarded a $1,000 Roland and Marian Lewis Scholarship. He graduated from Ferris High School and is the son of Hank and Ida Vogt of Spokane.

Ryan Murphy received a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship. He is the son of Kevin and Kay Murphy of Spokane and graduated in 2008 from West Valley High School.

Jennifer Welker was awarded a $2,500 Scholastic Honors Scholarship. She is a 2008 graduate of Ferris High School and the daughter of Jim and Ruth Welker of Spokane.
