Kinderchor of Spokane – Children’s choir program is holding auditions for the 2008-2009 season today and Sept. 11, 3-6 p.m. at the corner of 57th Avenue and Hatch Road. The Preparatory Choir is for grades 2-5; the Chamber Choir is for grades 5-12. Both choirs open to singers with unchanged voices. “The Nutcracker” – Alberta Ballet is holding auditions for dancers ages 9 and over with at least two years of experience on Sept. 14, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at A Time to Dance, 3815 N. Post St. Auditioners should be between 4 feet and 5-foot-5, and must provide the following measurements for costuming purposes: height, weight, chest in inches, waist in inches, hip, inseam, street shoe size, and ballet shoe size. “What the Hay, Uniontown” – The Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, Wash., is hosting a hay bale sculpture contest on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. Construction may begin Saturday in the field between the barn and the highway. Up to 10 bales will be available for each entry; contestants may provide additional bales. Mechanical creations are encouraged, but there is no access to electricity at the construction site.
