No. 8 Wildcats beat Wolves, stay unbeaten

Mike Reilly passed for 330 yards and two touchdowns, both to wide receiver Johnny Spevak who finished with 197 yards on 11 catches, and the Central Washington Wildcats (3-0, 2-0) rallied to turn away the Western Oregon Wolves (1-2, 1-1) in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Monmouth, Ore.

The eighth-ranked Wildcats scored 21 unanswered points to erase a 14-point third-quarter deficit with a Reilly-to-Spevak 71-yard score putting them ahead for good.

Western Washington 30, Humboldt State 14: Adam Perry threw a pair of TD passes and the Vikings (1-1, 1-1) pulled away from a 14-all halftime tie to beat the Lumberjacks (1-2, 0-1) in GNAC play in Arcata, Calif.

Puget Sound 37, Pomona-Pitzer 7: Freshman Wyatt Evenson, a Shadle Park High grad, booted the first field goal by a Loggers player in 42 quarters and UPS scored the final 34 points of the game en route to a non-conference rout of the Sagehens in Claremont, Calif.

Evenson, who ended a UPS streak that dated to Nov. 4, 2006, hit on three of his four attempts. His only miss was a 47-yarder.

St. Olaf 17, Pacific Lutheran 0: Coty Watkins rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown and the Oles blanked the Lutes in a non-conference season opener for both teams in Northfield, Minn.

The Oles had a pair of safeties in earning their first shutout since the 2005 season.

PLU was held scoreless for the second time in its past four games dating to last season.
