Money where their heart is

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are giving back to the country where their 3-year-old daughter Zahara was born.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has donated $2 million to help fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia, the Global Health Committee announced.

The organization will use the money to build a center in the capital city of Addis Ababa for children affected by the disease and establish a program to treat tuberculosis in children and adults. The center will be named for Zahara.

“It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission,” Pitt, 44, said in a statement.

The couple previously worked with the Global Health Committee to open the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

That’s named after their oldest son, 7-year-old Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia.

The couple’s 4-year-old son Pax was adopted from Vietnam. They are also the parents of 2-year-old Shiloh and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, who were born in July.

Live long and prosper

It’s official: George Takei and his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, have tied the knot.

Former “Star Trek” actor Takei, 71, and Altman, 54, were married Sunday in a multicultural ceremony at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles that featured a Buddhist priest, Native American wedding bands, a Japanese Koto harp and a bagpipe procession.

So now it’s really real

Jennifer Hudson got a big surprise on her 27th birthday: an engagement ring from beau David Otunga, a former “I Love New York 2” reality dating show contestant.

The “American Idol” alum, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for “Dreamgirls,” will release her debut solo album Sept. 30.

Three-ring in the new

Britney Spears is set to release her new album on Dec. 2, her 27th birthday.

“Circus” will follow last November’s “Blackout,” which was critically acclaimed but barely promoted during her infamous year of erratic behavior, rehab and custody battles.

Come hear the herd

Patty Loveless has found inspiration from a queen of classic rock: Stevie Nicks.

The country singer recorded Nicks’ “Silver Springs” for a new CD to raise money for the Imus Ranch, a cattle ranch founded by radio personality Don Imus to help ill children.

“The Imus Ranch Record,” to be released today, also includes contributions from Delbert McClinton, Lucinda Williams, Levon Helm, Little Richard, Randy Travis, Big & Rich, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam and Vince Gill.
