Black, Eneroth carry Cougars

Washington State University women’s golfers pulled away from the field in the third round to win the Northwest Dodge Dealers Inland Cup tournament at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman.

The Cougars shot a four-player total of 881, including a tourney-best 291 on the final day, to defeat the University of Nevada, with medalist Melanie DeLeon, by 22 strokes.

DeLeon finished with a three-round total 214, two strokes ahead of WSU’s Jessica Black, whose final-round 69 edged teammate Amy Eneroth (Mead High). Eneroth finished third at 218.

Gonzaga University tied for sixth with 935. Freshmen Jessica Howe (76) and Stephanie Corey (79) had GU’s lowest team scores for the final day. Corey totaled 229, finishing 15th.

Men’s soccer

The starting time and location of today’s North Idaho College at Community Colleges of Spokane match have changed. It will be played at 4 p.m. on the auxiliary field at Spokane Falls CC, not at 6 on the stadium field as originally scheduled.
